Some people have a monster in their head
It lurks in the shadows
Creeping around in their nightmares
Telling them “you don't matter”

For others, the monsters live outside
Some even don fake wings and a halo
They call themselves protectors
While still whispering “you don't matter”

And still others don't know it
They can't hear their own voice
Their fear or ignorance speaks for them
Telling someone “you don't matter”

Stop building walls
Let others in, and help them up
See people for who they are
and say “you matter”
