Yours Alone
Your future was bright and shining
Your smiles big and beaming
But then you messed up and now there’s a voice
That keeps yelling and screaming
That’s all you can hear
As the days turn into weeks
and slowly you begin to believe them
as you become deafened by their shrieks
Tune out the anger, tune out the pain
Open your heart to those that love you so
Your worth is yours alone to decide
No one else can do it, oh no
It’s only that one voice speaking
And they only speak for themselves, it’s true
Coming from a place of hardship and hurt
Trying so hard to push it all onto you
Their words, their cries, it’s all about them
Their past, their misery, their mistakes
But so many that know you stand by you
And remind you that your future is yours to take
Tune out the anger, tune out the pain
