AEW Dynamite From March 24 2021 Recap

I thought I'd do a recap of AEW Dynamite from last night and see how that goes.

A big match to started off the night with AEW world champion Kenny Omega versus Matt Sydal in a title eliminator match. If Sydal were to pick up the victory here he would then get a shot at the championship against Omega. Kenny got one of his long introductions from Justin Roberts and Don Callis was on commentary for this one. Someone in the crowd had a "Kenny is gonna beat up a hippie" sign. Accurate!

The match itself was a lot of fun with Sydal getting a few close and surprisingly believable near falls. Of course, it was Omega who picked up the victory in the end after hitting the One Winged Angel. A move that it was noted on commentary that only one man has ever kicked out of.

Next up was a preview of what was to come in this episode follow by Alex Marvez interviewing the Dark Order before John Silver's main event versus Darby Allin. Silver was practising avoiding the coffin drop with his follow Dark Order members and Hangman told him that either way the match goes his friends will be proud of him.

Speaking of Hangman Adam Page he was next versus Cezar Bononi. Recently on Dark, Bononi seems to have formed a team with Ryan Nemeth and J.D. Drake. Solid match here that I think was about the right length. Bononi is huge and was great in his role. Directly following that match they went to Lance Archer cutting a promo on Sting which is a match I am looking forward to seeing.

Britt Baker promo with Tony Schiavone! Britt did a fantastic job staying heel following her amazing performance last week in the main event of last week's Dynamite. A match for next week between Christian Cage and Frankie Kazarian was then set up. It will be interesting to see how Christian does as it seems they have big plans for him.

The in ring debut of the Pinnacle was next with FTR and Shawn Spears taking on the Varsity Blondes and Dante Martin. Nothing spectacular in the match itself although it was good. Following the match we got some great promos from FTR and MJF.

Then a short message from Team Taz was shown that suggests Cage is splitting from the group at some point possibly soon. One good QT Marshal promo later and a QT versus Cody Rhodes exhibition match was made for next week.

Six man tag, Laredo Kid and the Lucha Bros versus Brandon Cutler and the Young Bucks! This was awesome! In the end Laredo Kid was the one to get the pin over Cutler. Immediately after the match out came Kenny Omega and Don Callis. Omega gave the Young Bucks one last chance to choose him as he chose to form AEW with them three years ago. The Bucks refuse and walk out then Omega is taken out by the Lucha Bros. Out come the Good Brothers and a video promo by Jade Cargill regarding her singles match with Red Velvet was next.

A commercial revealing Rhodes To The Top a new reality show on TNT focused on the life of Cody and Brandi Rhodes was shown. Well, hopefully it brings in some new viewers for Dynamite! A short John Moxley and Eddie Kingston promo seemingly setting up a stipulation match with the Good Brothers then happened. Good Stuff!

Great match between Tay Conti and Nyla Rose was next with Tay Conti picking up the victory by pin fall. After the match Tay was laid out by Nyla and out came Shida to help out Tay. Then the Bunny with Matt Hardy's group arrived so she and Nyla got the advantage over Tay and Shida. This setup a tag team match for next week.

Also next week is the Arcade Anarchy match with Chuck Taylor and Orange Cassidy versus Miro and Kip Sabian. A short video promo for that was shown. I'm assuming that match will be the end of this feud and Miro will destroy Kip after losing. Matches for next week including Omega and the Good Brothers versus Laredo Kid and the Lucha Bros were announced then a video promo by Scorpio Sky happened.

Finally it was time for the main event as John Silver took on Darby Allin for the TNT title. This match was a joy to watch, but unfortunately Silver hurt his shoulder at one point. Darby picked up the victory and showed respect to Silver for his efforts afterwards. To end the night Matt Hardy and his group came out to fight with the Dark Order. Honestly I think Matt Hardy is one of the best heels in wrestling right now. I can't wait for Matt to get what's coming to him!

Great episode and on paper next week looks even better. AEW Dynamite can be watched live on TNT in the USA, TSN in Canada, and I believe through fite.tv everywhere else. They do have TV deals in various countries around the world now so I'm not sure exactly which ones are available through fite.tv.
