AEW Dynamite From March 31 2021 Recap

Another recap of AEW Dynamite! This time I shall recap the episode from March 31, 2021.

Christian Cage made his AEW wrestling debut to start this week's show. It was a good performance against Frankie Kazarian and I liked the match over all even if it was a tad too slow for a Dynamite opening. Immediately following that match we got a cinematic video from Darby Allin and Sting in which Darby cut a promo on Matt Hardy. Is Hardy fighting for the TNT title on AEW's first house show?

Before the next bout we got a video promo from Jade Cargill which while nothing we hadn't heard before it was well delivered. Speaking of the next bout it's an exhibition match between Cody Rhodes and QT Marshall with special guest referee Arn Anderson! The short part of this that was a match was well wrestled and faster paced than the first one. Eventually QT punched out Arn Anderson and left the ring. QT looked distraught at his actions at first then Aaron Solo, Anthony Ogogo, and Nick Comorodo started taking out the rest of the Nightmare Family. A bleeding Dustin was piledriven into the steel steps and Ogogo took out Cody with a vicious body shot. Just before QT destroyed Cody will a chair Red Velvet ran out and the group with QT left.

Following that there was a video promo from the new team of Scorpio Sky and Ethan Page. We then cut to Dasha interviewing Red Velvet during which Velvet was laid out by Jade Cargill. A video promo by Jon Moxley was shown before he took on Cezar Bononi. Moxley versus Bononi was a fun match for what it was.

A message from Team Taz! Things are totally not fine with them! It looks like Cage is splitting from the group fairly soon unless Taz has a big plan to bring everyone back on the same page. This next backstage segment was awesome.

The return of the Inner Circle to take out the Pinnacle was so well done. When I first saw them I thought it might have been too soon for their return, but by the time it was done that was clearly not the case. All the members of the Pinnacle were taken out and I can't wait to see where this goes next!

The Young Bucks were being interviewed when they were interrupted by Don Callis who then cut a promo on Matt Jackson. After that it was time for Kenny Omega and the Good Brothers versus Laredo Kid and the Lucha Bros. The match was fantastic and ended when Omega hit the One Winged Angel on Laredo Kid.

In the aftermath of that match Jon Moxley came out followed by the Young Bucks. Omega and the Good Brothers flee the ring when the new trio goes to attack them. A great video promo on Thunder Rosa from Britt Baker with Rebel (not Reba) is played. The Bunny and Nyla Rose versus Hikaru Shida and Tay Conti was up next! The Bunny hit Tay with Shida's kendo stick and got the pin fall victory for her team. I'm looking forward to seeing how the relationship between Tay and Shida progresses.

Matches for next week are announced and it's Jon Moxley and the Young Bucks versus Kenny Omega and the Good Brothers! Also the Bunny versus Tay Conti and Darby Allin defends the TNT title against JD Drake which should be good. Jurassic Express will take on Bear Country next week and we saw a promo from the JE boys regarding that match

The main event of the episode was unbelievable. It was Best Friends versus Kip Sabian and Miro in Arcade Anarchy! Miro looked like a monster throughout the match, Kris Statlander and Trent made their returns, and OC's new theme is awesome! One of the best and most feel good endings to a show AEW has ever done. When all four of them did the thumbs up to Trent's mom Sue while “Where Is My Mind” played I was so happy!

Probably a top ten Dynamite episode even if it didn't necessarily look like it on paper. I'm looking forward to next week's episode as usual and thanks for reading!
