Microsoft keyboard post
So, the adapter arrived. Now the keyboard is working, and oh yeah, it's pretty nice! :)
Not top tier/#1 type of keyboard, I've used better, but this is a welcome change from the continual boredom of the MacBook keyboard I've been using for over two years. It becomes so predictable.
The MS keyboard, the key material is weird. Seems like a thick, rigid plastic, and some smoothness would be better, I think. The noise is silent. Not even clickety elements. Almost as silent at the Logitech Keys To Go kb I had, which was nearly just a cardboard-thick slab of rubber, with minimal keyboard registers within. This MS keyboard is kinda/sorta better than the Logitech MX Keys kb I had, which was sold on CL when I was readying to go Out West. No regrets getting rid of that, because the key presses were overly mushy. Key shape and size were good – just not nice to type on. This MS keyboard is akin to something in a library or college computer lounge – a thing that is nice, and works, but it isn't a fluently enjoyable typing experience, but still, A-OK for my standards.
Key options are good, as it is something to be used with nearly ALL OS's, other than iOS 7 and below, and Android 6 and below. Windows 7 and up, Linux (all distros? Impossible!) works, MacOS 10 (all versions? Maybe?) and I suppose we're at MacOS 11 now (if I remember?). ChromeOS is ok here, too.
But still, keys available: A sort of universal search up top, which brings up Spotlight Search (blog bless that!), a Home/Headphones/File(?) key above the built in trackpad (as I see right now they do nothing), dedicated media keys (volume to the left, Play/Pause Forward/Back in the upper row), Mute key below the volume keys, a Settings key (idk, doesn't do anything here as I see – it does something), and all the snips and snaps of a standard keyboard.
Trackpad. It's here. It works (as I saw during setup). Keeping my mouse handy, as it is not a pleasant surface to graze – same material as the keys, which is a thick/bumpy type of plastic and opposite of that of a MacBook trackpad, which is smooth as silk.
Lightweight. But hefty. Nice.
That' all's.
