CA Topper Review Plus Rant
Most things I write are a rant these days. You cannot undo certain things you want to do even though they are egregious.
One such thing I love doing is watching Indian web series all alone, with headphones on, in between the work breaks while my wife works in the other room because she has long work calls and I don't.
I swept clean this CA topper yesterday. I would be judging the characters and not adding much of the plot. A plot summary is at the end of the write up, if you are looking for that!
Manav Kaul is cool and calm at start and becomes chalant as the show progresses. Tillotama Shome is okayish all over the show in scene appearance and all.
Naina Sareen stole the show for me. No hefty dialogues, the casting felt perfect in all sense, everything so on point. Her character's name too was interesting – Ashoklata!!
The real show stealers were Shubrajyoti Barat, Faisal Malik and Ashok Pathak. Kya mast characterisation and output!!
The show is A rated from the very start. The lead is a CA topper who works in a government planning office. As life hits him, he gets into a cash crunch and turns towards male prostitution to earn extra money — upar ki kamaai. Things botch up when the halwaai of the town, who is a gangster in disguise of a halwaai finds his wife has taken the “service” and is on the search for who has given the “service”. The plot has a heavy undertone of comedy.
Surely a watch, may not be a binge one, but you'd fast forward and complete it if you get interest for sure!!
