The fall seems to have quickly arrived this year and the days are rapidly getting shorter. Thankfully, Artemis doesn’t mind a little crisp in the air…it’s far better than 100+ she says.
Here’s what I am reading (and listening to) this weekend:
- Judy Heumann talked to Ann Cody & Cheri Blauwet about some of the histories around disability sport in the US.
- How to talk about disability sensitively and avoid ableist tropes by Shruti Rajkumar is a must-read.
- Tech and AI are taking over more facets of our lives; read about how such technologies have embedded ableism and disproportionately impact those with disabilities.
- I recently revisited, OK Boomer, Let’s Talk by Jill Filipovic and this sentence still sticks out:
“A plethora of choices, researchers have found, is what we think we want, but too many options overwhelm us and sink us into paralysis.”
Until next time.
