We all have stories, these are mine. I tell them with a heart full of love and through eyes of kindness.

A Perfect Day

There's a lot of ways a day can be perfect.

Wolfinwool · A Perfect Day
There's a lot of ways a day can be perfect. And it's different for all of us. But today was simple: Weather perfection. Warm and sunny, but not hot, a light breeze that just made creation worth enjoying. I wish it was something we could capture and save for those dark days later. It was an early gift of spring. That was made even better by a reason to be outside all day long enjoying it. I was crawling around under the van running drain and AC lines to get to that final push for CamperVan Beethoven to really be ready for a month-long road trip. Can't WAIT!!! And, my dad was here helping out. He's in his 70's now and even though it breaks my heart other see him struggle to get up and down off of the ground, it was also heartwarming to remember those days 35 years ago when we'd do the same thing working on cars together. My dad and I didn't do a lot of the traditional male-bonding kinds of activities (baseball, fishing, yadda yadda) but man did we work the hell out of some cars. We built my first car, 1983 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme, out of two wrecked versions. He taught me to be fearless in dismantling vehicles to the bare metal and putting it back together again. He helped me build my first engine and watched me rebuild it when I blew it up not checking the oil like he told me. Damn, those were golden days. And if I ever have a son, that'll be one of the things I teach him. Only, there'll be less yelling 'you ain't holding the damn light right!!' My dad opened up a little about the death of his own father when my dad was only 9. He's only ever said that he died. But today, I learned some about the effect on my grandmother emotionally and physically as well as how the whole family dealt with the tragic loss. It wasn't the happiest day of my life, nor was it the most rewarding. But it was perfect, it met the intended purpose to the fullest degree. And I think that's wonderful. I hope your day was equally good, dear reader and if nothing else, let me say, I love you. Thank you for being here. ---
