ABSCOND
In April,
We first met
And it was
Love at first sight.
Well, it was for me,
It would take you a
Few days to realize
Just how good I could be.
And you found home
Here in the shade
With room to grow
And food aplenty.
I kept this
Heliocentric garden
Just for you,
After all.
Until July, when I learned
The hard way that
You weren’t the gentle
Souls I thought you were.
I am sorry so many of you
Cast your lives away
Ineffectively trying to stop
My theft of your stores.
Efforts and rewards amazed,
I gave you more and more
To keep you happy. And yet,
it seems it wasn’t enough.
And now in the dearth
I watch you abandon me.
Leaving me confused
And hungry.
Oh! Little friends!
What am I to do now
Without the lustrous treasure
upon which I bragged
so heartily.
You do not know
Abandonment
My swarm
Only how to
Abandon.
It seems this
Autumn
Everyone
Is Leaving.
