Days Like This
Apologies should come easily,
And, should be born of humility.
Not with utterances
So practiced
That they just
Roll off the tongue.
But with gouging of the soul
And desperation to eradicate
The stain of injury and
Hurt that we’ve inflicted.
Big mouths
Sink ships
And drown
Rats and friends alike.
Better to be silent
And thought a fool
Than to open one’s mouth
And have all doubt removed.
Some days the milk
Is curdled,
The sky is grey,
And your left shoe
Is worn a little more
Than the right.
And so you walk with a limp
And that favoring makes
Other things hurt.
Injury compounds injury.
But other times,
The sky is blue
And there is levity
In the heart constantly
And laughter erupts.
That lightness of the soul
Allows us to step easy
And the pain is lessened.
Then forgotten.
Those are the days
We should embrace
And celebrate.
Those we count.
Friends and lovers
Come and go
And we are always
Better for the experiences.
As you journey through life, take a moment every now and then to notice the other fellow… he may be plotting something! – Dr Horrible
