Memories of Rome
Notes from Sketchbook #36 2011
Memories of ROME (from the 2010 trip)
Cool night air
We traveled in October. The fall air was amazing in Rome. Dry and never cold. Light jacket weather. We did have one day of rain, but the next morning the air was STILL dry and cool.
Taxi naps from Airport to hotel (Santa Chiara)
Ang was so jet lagged, she slept solid, I was micro napping, but taking in the countryside and city a best I cold. We had rented a Towncar to transfer us from airport to hotel.
Cobblestones
There was no telling how old these streets were. They were still uneven, but mostly worn town until it was almost a continuous surface.
Ancient, painted wooden doors
In the city, there were fascinating collections of door colors. They were ancient and clearly all hand-made (strange sizes) and colors from yellow, blue, red, green and all variety of inbetweens.
