Ribbibit Ribbibit
Such a fine specimen
Fat and happy
Shiny green and
A pulse in your throat.
With your long
Lithe tongue
Snatching up flies
Worms, snails and slugs.
What do you think
About sitting there
All day long on your little
Throne in the pond?
Do you dream
Of great frog-adventures,
Of what lies beyond the pond
Drinking mud-beer in a pub,
Or maybe up in the sky.
Tiny bindle stick full of dried flies.
Setting off to conquer new lands.
Or building a great
Castle with spires
To the sky?
I’ll bet you’re just
Happy to sit
With your friends
And serenade one
Another in the setting sun
And then hide all
Day day in the
Soft, cool-wet bank
Of your little kingdom
Of mud.
