Savage Rules For Success
About a decade ago, I read Adam Savage's 10 rules for success. They are still as good advice today as they ever were.
1. Get Good at Something
Being good at one thing makes you able to get good at other things.
2. Getting Good Takes Practice
Lots and lots of practice!
- Get Obsessed
Everyone at the top of their field is obsessed with that they love.
4. Doing Well is it's Own Reward
Don't expect everyone to celebrate your every success. Be thorough and realize that being satisfied is enough. Practice can be meditative.
5. Show and Tell
Let people know when you succeed. They want to know too!
6. If you Want Something, Ask
Tell someone when you are passionate about something. Letting others know is the best way to get to your goal.
7. Have Goals
Regularly assess where you are. Things rarely turn out exactly as you expected and remember they direction you set out in will tell you how you are doing. It's a kind of prayer.
8. Be Nice to Everyone
“Life's too short to be a jerk.
9. Fail It's Your Job
When you fail, admit it. When you don't fail, don't get cocky... because you are about to fail again.
10. Work Your Butt Off.
Work like your life depends on it. It does.
