This song is so mesmerizing, i didn't realize the simplicity of the lyrics until copy-pasting them here. A friend told me a story of dancing to this song many years ago when she was still a performing dancer.
My, god, how does so much time go by. We are all becoming old humans, but I don't feel it yet. I age down in my peer group, so I am clinging to that last measure of youth that your early fifties affords.
The story she told me was how it was the one time her SO saw her form on stage. It is such a challenge to make the arts a priority when this life takes so much from us. Especially raising a family. The best we can do is make appreciation of the arts part of that experience. Which is an art all its own.
But, I think that is just an example of how different we all are. What is inconceivable to you, is probably a pretty good idea to me.
People do respond to good dancing with enthusiasm... but you know what else they respond to? CONFIDENCE. If you just grab hold with both hands and say 'so what', even poor dancing gets smiles and laughter. In truth, we all suck at it and we're all way, way better than we realize.
Dance FOR those you love and dance WITH those you love. No doubt smashing some toes in the process.
