Never trust a liar. Even though they will always trust themselves.

the cost of doing the business of life

Sometimes, the cost of doing the right thing feels like more than one can afford— that it will leave you bankrupt, draining what once seemed like a rich and bottomless well of goodness and noble desire for laudable acts.

How much desire and ambition must one quell in order to be considered a good man? Is there a danger of denying one’s own wants so determinedly that we essentially die inside? A cold heart no longer passionate about anything.

Time is a cruel master. It will take from you more than you can imagine—more than you feel you can bear—while offering only small returns, just enough to keep the fire of hope alive. Yet, it is this hope that sustains the belief that, one day, the flame of faith will erupt into a bonfire, illuminating a life rich with meaning and reward.
