The Royal Road to Romance Audiobook Project Update
The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only one page.
I can't BELIEVE IT! I've made it past the halfway point on my reading of this epic tale.
It's a wonderful telling of a man's vagabond journey around the world in pursuit not of what we now think of as romance, but the romance of the road. To wonder and gawk at the beauty of our world with his own eyes. All after the turn of the 20th century. A time before two world wars would scald the face of the world physically and psychologically.
The language and prose in his writing is just top shelf. It's one of those books that you should really love words to enjoy.
It is no small feat to try to read this out loud. Listening to my recording, I repeatedly hear my southern drawl drop consonants and trim words. Alas, I'm years away from reigning that flaw.
