The Wilderness

I am hiking this morning.
I am home. In the wild. Nothing but the wind, the dark and the crickets for company at night. Today, the wind is still by my side, but joining the chorus is the sound of birds, the snort of a buffalo and the warm daystar.
The climb was intense. But, the view absolutely worth it. I don’t know if i will be capable of this in 5 years. But today, I am mule.
The bees here are having a joyous time in the explosion of spring flowers. 🌼 I wonder where they nest.
My friends would love it. Perhaps in the fall this would be a good family trip.
Cactus and buffalo droppings add interesting texture to the sage and evergreens.
The smell. The aroma of fresh dirt, exploding verdant life. Sweet, earthy, wet. It’s tremendous.
Time to climb down and lunch. 🥗
