Death Stranding | December 2022 | Steam Deck

Death Stranding's long complex cutscenes, slow early gameplay, and painfully simple objectives left a numbing first impression. “Is this it?” I said to myself as I picked it up and put it down the game on two separate occasions. Death Stranding lived in my head unfinished with each attempt leaving a unique aftertaste. What was so irresistible about Death Stranding's world, gameplay, and story that kept me coming back?

[Story]
Death Stranding takes place in a post-apocalyptic United States. The once accommodating landscape is now covered in unforgiving topography. Delivery organizations rule as the only means of traversing the environment. They providing packages to the disconnected underground population.

Sam Porter Bridges, the main character, is a reserved deliveryman. He is tasked by the waning United States government to trek a westward expansion. The last hope for humanity is to reconnect the remaining underground distribution centers.
