MTN for divorce. My sister is asking me to call her back in the evening about something that is important to her, but she is continuously on the phone. I dialed a total of 11 times, hoping that she would see that and stop her kwekkwekkwek with whoever she was chatting with and call me back. I then get a message “good night” and I angrily send her a stinker back. She does not react. The following morning I sent her a message to call me, I am not going to dial her 11 times again for something where I am trying to do her a favour. She calls. I express my anger. She answers that she was waiting for my call all evening and that she sent a message good night to prompt me to finally call her, and did not understand my angry message. No, she did not call anybody that evening, her line was always free. MTN, you are responsible for how many divorces?

The above is, so far, not a real advert, but beware. Recently I attended one of the Sunday big Hotel Buffets, where most dress at their best, and here was this African couple with a 3-4-year-old pretty girl, with a bleached face. Do we not value our own skin colour at all? Maybe she should have slept with an Obroni rather.

Gold price. Ghana used to be called the Gold Coast, and for good reasons, we have one of the largest gold deposits in the world. And what about the price? In this world of uncertainty that price of course has gone up, and you would have done better buying gold than Ghana treasury bills, though for the short-time investor I do not suggest you buy gold, prices fluctuate seriously.

But we like gold, and though the jewelers are complaining about reduced business (who can afford to buy gold jewelry these days) some of that is their own making. In Dubai you pay the international world gold price plus 20 %, this price is set by the Dubai Government, whilst in Ghana you easily pay 65 % on top, often 200-300 %. So beware where you buy, and if you want the bigger pieces you may want to combine that with a trip to Dubai.
