Event misfires….
Wondering what makes Red Carpet Events so intriguing??? The glam, the design, the outfits, the colors, the theme, flashing lights, cameras rolling, photoshoots, backdrops, interviews etc all come to life the night of the event. But one thing is certain, and very unfortunate, the delay in time. For some time now, the fashion events world in Ghana has been poorly coordinated to the extent that the events start 2 to 3 hours later than announced. Well !!! Can we blame them? How can events start on time when guests are mostly arriving late? Also, why won’t guests arrive late when consistently events don’t start at the announced time which then ends up sinking deep into the night, ruining their experience at the show?

This is becoming a norm that needs to be eliminated. The whole thing smells of total disrespect for guests by organizers, resulting in guests also showing up later and so forth. A friend of mine even refuses to attend any event with me, be it fashion or music. And he is right, the recent Rave concert at Kokrobite started 3 hours late and I left before the main act because it was becoming too late and I had things to do the next day, Blue Crest Fashion School Graduation show started an hour late and as I was part of the models they kept me busy doing nothing for 8 hours for a 2-minute catwalk. Poorly organized. You cannot have your guests check their watch all the time instead of focusing on the program, which is the reason why they attend the event.
There are many instances where guests arrive at fashion shows and the center isn’t even ready with the setup and carpets are still being rolled out. So they have to linger around to beat time. So now, if everybody decides to come late, then everybody is on time, which isn’t right.

Let’s all learn from Uncle Ebo Whyte, CEO of Roverman Studios, whose theater plays at the national theater always start sharp on time regardless of the number of audiences seated.
Beautiful experience, go to the 6 pm show and you are out by 745 and can still go for a dinner date or other event.
Shame on the poor event organizers!!!!

I am in love with a scammer. (by Asha)
That happens. In my case, it happened. The advantage of scammers is that they have time on their hands to attend to you and that they often have money, and can be generous. And my scammer is a really nice person, and sometimes even drops me off at work, like this morning. I am in the personal care business and visit clients in their homes, and Bitty, as I call him, seems not jealous, which is hard to find in Ghana. I already spent 3 nights with him in his house and things are going nicely. So for a few weeks, I have started contemplating taking this relationship a bit further. I like him, and in his presence, I feel comfortable and cared for, and scammers to are human beings, and things are hard, so why blame him for making a living? And scammers scam people with lots of money, and no one asks where they got that money, serve them right. And who needs to know how Bitty is making a living? Most are more interested in the type of car he drives.

We're now planning a little holiday, I have one week left this year, and we are talking about Ada and some nearby places. We'll spend all the nights together, and I am really looking forward.
This morning I told my long-standing client, a very old lady, about all this. Wonderful, she said, but don’t marry too soon, you are still young. Are you going to have kids? Of course, I replied. And then of course grandchildren. Take your time, she repeated, you'll need it to figure out how you are going to tell all your children that their father is a scammer.....

Toxic bosses.
Your boss often is someone who knows how to get things done and how to push things forward, an unfortunate consequence is that they know how to push people as well, and too often that goes in an unpleasant way. Recently this is a trending subject with the name, a “toxic boss”. Toxic bosses are bad for your health, and if you are unlucky to have a toxic boss you may even have to resign. Talking to the boss of the toxic boss will typically not have much effect, after all the boss of the toxic boss put him there, and removing him means admitting a wrong choice, so he'll rather sacrifice you. There are toxic colleagues as well, these you may be able to handle by teaming up against that person with other colleagues who would have similar feelings about this toxic colleague. These toxic persons are different from the ones who make unwanted sexual advances, I'll deal with that in a different blog. Sometimes the toxic person is not really aware that others see him as offensive, they consider bullying as a normal part of the job. You can at least try to very diplomatically talk to him and explain why you feel he is offensive, if you are lucky he will say sorry and behave better from then on. I mentioned resigning, which may financially not be possible, but at least you can start scouting for a new job. By the time you are told you have been accepted, do ask to speak to the person who will be your day-to-day boss, so you hopefully don’t move from the drip into the rain. And if you are financially a bit OK without the toxic job, see it as an opportunity to get a new job, or to start on your own. Many who made it big are today thankful for having been sacked or having resigned.
If you are in the above situation, go onto the net and read up about it, it is trending.....
PS: most bosses are climbers without any formal training in being a boss.

Shortages.
I’m not into politics but now that even Kayayeis are hoarding Dollars anybody’s guess on the Christmas value of the dollar can be right. The result will be shortages because importers don’t have dollars and anyway nobody would be able to afford their goods.
So I’m stocking up today on a few essentials, and I’ll take a few luxury bites before they will not be available again. Get ready for some closures of landmarks, though the recent Games closure has its origin well before our crisis started.
