Welcome to Dharma Plus Dissent, where deep wisdom meets radical systems critique. This blog (just like the podcast) is an ongoing experiment. A sandbox for developing and iterating on the integral spiritual system I am designing, practicing, and striving to embody called Embodied Liberation Dharma (ELD) while improving my quality of life and the lives of others and engaging in intellectual discussions most platforms aren’t designed to allow space for.

If you’ve ever felt that the world doesn’t make sense, that something fundamental about our way of living and being is broken, sick, or misaligned, you’re not alone. I see this space as a living archive of thought, rebellion, and transformation, where we break down oppressive systems, analyze reality holistically, and imagine new ways of living and being.

Who I Am and Why I Created This

I am an Afro-futurist creative writer, lay philosopher, grant writer in training, and systems thinker who moves through life guided by decolonization, deep inquiry, and radical autonomy. My work is an evolving fusion of POSIWID (The Purpose of a System is What It Does), AQAL (All Quadrants, All Levels) analysis, and Embodied Liberation Dharma (ELD), all aimed at creating alternative and empowering ways of existing.

I started this decentralized blog because most conversations about philosophy, liberation, technology, and systemic analysis are shallow, reactionary, or co-opted by centralized or corporate interests. I wanted a place to explore ideas freely, challenge assumptions, and build a cohesive framework for living a deeply intentional life. I created this blog that is connected to the Fediverse, and is self-hosted (heh, or will be), in alignment with my values.

Explaining Some Acronyms

To understand how I approach the world, here’s a quick breakdown of the key ideas I return to often:

🔍 POSIWID (The Purpose of a System is What It Does):

Most systems lie about what they are for. The true function of a system is not what it says, but what it produces. This is why capitalism claims to create prosperity but generates exploitation and scarcity. It’s why dating apps claim to foster connection but keep people swiping endlessly. POSIWID is the tool to uncover these hidden purposes.

🧠 AQAL (All Quadrants, All Levels):

Reality isn’t one-dimensional. AQAL is a Eurocentric meta-theory that helps us analyze everything from multiple perspectives, internal and external, personal and systemic. Using AQAL, we don’t just ask “How does capitalism affect individuals?” we also ask “How does it shape culture, behavior, power structures, and consciousness itself?”

I take it further usurping it to foster and prioritize liberation.

Asking questions like:

🦠 Wetiko (The Mind Virus of Colonization & Self-Destruction):

Wetiko is a spiritual and psychological illness where people act in ways that destroy themselves and others…obsessed with control, consumption, and power at the expense of humanity. It’s the sickness at the heart of capitalism, imperialism, and ecological collapse. Recognizing Wetiko is the first step toward undoing it.

🦠 Yurugu (The Toxicity, Lack, and Emptiness inherent in European Ontology):

Yurugu is a concept from Dr. Marimba Ani that describes the incomplete, destructive mindset of European/Western culture, one that values control, domination, materialism, and cold rationalism over spiritual connection, balance, and humanity. It comes from a Dogon myth about a being (Yurugu) who was born incomplete and spends his existence trying to “fix” himself by controlling and conquering everything around him. In real life, this shows up as white supremacy, capitalism, colonialism, and the idea that Western ways of thinking are “superior” to all others. Yurugu culture separates people from nature, prioritizes greed over community, and forces the world into rigid, oppressive systems that harm the planet and humanity.

🌱 OH and NH (Old Happy and New Happy):

Old Happy is society’s flawed definition of happiness, built on the false promises of individualism, capitalism, and domination, teaching that happiness comes from self-reliance and independence (you must figure everything out alone), success and productivity (your worth is based on what you achieve), and constant competition (happiness is about winning and ranking higher than others) when in reality, these beliefs make us miserable.

New Happy is a redefined, decolonized vision of happiness that comes not from chasing success, individualism, domination, or competition, but from using your gifts to help others, recognizing that true happiness is rooted in connection, purpose, and contribution, where fulfillment arises from shared well-being rather than personal achievement alone.

🔥 Embodied Liberation Dharma (ELD):

ELD is a meta-modern integral spiritual system that I am designing, practicing, and seeking to embody, that helps you to be free, wise, and deeply connected to yourself, others, and the world. It’s not a religion, but a flexible system that integrates philosophy, spirituality, health, and decolonization to create a life that makes sense. It helps you free yourself from harmful systems, connect with your body and spirit, think critically, build meaningful relationships, and live a life that makes sense. It’s practical, evolving, and designed for real-world liberation, not just theory.

Why This Blog Is a Living Experiment

I don’t believe in static truths. What I believe today may not be what I believe tomorrow…because growth means continuously questioning and refining our understanding. I will document my evolving thoughts here, embracing the tension of intellectual and spiritual transformation.

This space is for mutually beneficial discussion. I want to engage with people who are curious, open to questioning everything, and committed to building better ways of living.
