Fiddling with Latte Dock
Finally got around to digging a little deeper into Latte Dock customisation and now have two different layouts that I'm happy with. The first one features a panel at the top with a global menu and a dock at the bottom, in the vein of Mac OS. In contrast, the second has more of a Windows 10 style panel at the bottom. There are times when I find myself wanting one or the other as a workflow so it's nice to have the option to switch between them. I guess I could have them set up on different KDE Activities but I've never found a compelling enough reason in how I work for multiple screens, whether physical or virtual. Anyway, more details and photos below!
Global layout
Top panel:
- Widgets: application menu, global menu, active window control configured like a Mac, 2 x justify splitters, bluetooth, system tray, digital clock, search, lock/logout, minimise all windows.
- Behaviour: always visible.
- Appearance: items 28 px, margins length 5% height 15%, colours plasma/reverse/smart tweaked as needed, background opacity 0% opaque when touching any window;.
Bottom dock:
- Widgets: Latte tasks.
- Behaviour: dodge all windows.
- Appearance: items 55px no zoom on hover, margins length 0% height 20%, colours plasma, background off.
- Effects: shadows size 30% opacity 70% colour default, animations x3, indicators plasma length 10% reverse indicator style.
- Tasks: actions hover preview and highlight windows.
Windows layout
Bottom panel:
- Widgets: application menu, search, latte tasks, 2 x justify splitters, bluetooth, system tray, digital clock, minimise all windows.
- Behaviour: always visible.
- Appearance: items 40px no zoom on hover, margins length 0% height 25%, colours plasma, background opacity 85%,
- Effects: shadows off, animations x3, indicators plasma length 40% reverse indicator style.
- Tasks: badges notifications and progress information from tasks, actions hover preview and highlight windows.
Of course, I reserve the right to change this all at some point in the future but for now, I'm happy with it!
