Spontaneous Spanish
I am often very hard on myself when it comes to learning Spanish, so I want to take a moment and recognize a breakthrough that I had with the language.
The other day I was speaking with an individual from Mexico. I mentioned how Lorena is from Mexico City, and he asked if I spoke Spanish. I could tell by his face that I surprised him when I switched to Spanish to answer. I canβt blame him for being a little taken off guard, most Americans who look like me only speak English. π
We had the rest of our conversation in Spanish and then parted ways. For once, I actually felt proud of myself and my Spanish abilities.
My confidence needed that boost because I know that I will still have plenty of frustrating moments in the future. At which point, Iβll return to this post for a little reminder of my progress!
